Version 2002 Updates |
In this version of PowerPoint, the dialog boxes are now positioned directly on the slide page in boxes called panels and are in the Task Pane toolbar rather than pop-up boxes. This toolbar is like other toolbars in PowerPoint in that it can float or be positioned anywhere on your screen. These panels stay open on your desktop while you work giving you quick and easy access to the different commands. Almost everything can be accessed from here- including templates, transitions, animation, timeline, color and animation schemes, text and content layouts, etc. Diagram of PPT 2002 Normal View. When you start PowerPoint, the Task pane window is set to New Presentation. From this you can choose one of four main options: 1. Open a Presentation (one that you have previously created or received from someone else). 2. New - to choose either a blank presentation or a new presentation using a design template or the Autocontent Wizard. 3. New from Exisiting Presentation. 4. New from Template. When you choose to start a New Presentation using a Design Template (click on the From Design Template link), the Task Pane now displays the Slide Design Task Pane with all the design templates you can choose from. The Slide Design task pane also includes the three main design options: Design Templates, Color Schemes, and Animation Schemes.Choose one of the designs and begin creating your presenatation. Click on the down arrow at the top of the Task Pane window to access the dropdown menu of other Panes you can choose (labeled in PPT 2002 Window diagram as Click here to select other Task Panes). |

Choose Slide Layout to specify what page layout you need for the current page. This pane is organized into four main areas: Text Layouts, Content Layouts, Text and Content Layouts, and Other Layouts. |
The task pane is context sensitive, changing in relation to a current activity. For instance, when you select Custom Animation, the task pane will change to show animation attributes and effects. You can also get back to previous activities using the browser like back and forward arrows above the task pane on the left side. |
